Procopio is seeking to hire a mid-level Associate with approximately 5–7 years of construction litigation experience to join the firm’s Litigation Team in the San Diego and/or Del Mar Heights offices. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing practice at an AmLaw 200 Firm representing owners, developers, contractors, subcontractors, design professionals, and other construction industry clients in a broad range of complex disputes. The role offers substantial client contact, practice development, and professional growth opportunities.
The ideal candidate will have experience handling all phases of construction litigation in both State and Federal courts, including contract, delay, payment, mechanic’s lien, and other commercial construction disputes. Candidates should have experience working in a private law firm handling civil litigation matters and be comfortable drafting pleadings, discovery requests and responses, meet and confer correspondence, dispositive motions, trial briefs, settlement agreements, and client reports. Our best candidates have argued routine motions, made regular court and arbitration appearances, taken and defended depositions, and assisted with trial and arbitration preparation.
This position requires California bar admission and excellent academic credentials. Qualified candidates must have strong writing, verbal, analytical, and research skills. The ideal candidate will have past experience participating in moot court and/or law review. Judicial clerkship experience is a plus. Typical salary range is from $195,000 to $325,000 depending on experience. In addition, this role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, bringing the possible total compensation range to $280,000-$450,000 annually. Procopio is seeking to hire a mid-level Associate with approximately 3–6 years of experience to join the firm’s Education, Nonprofits & Public Agency Practice Group. This is an excellent opportunity to join an AmLaw 200 Firm representing charter schools, early education providers, nonprofit organizations, public agencies, government contractors, and grant recipients in a sophisticated and diverse public interest practice that combines advisory counseling with litigation and administrative proceedings. This position may be based in any of our California offices, with potential flexibility for hybrid or remote work depending on the candidate’s experience.
The ideal candidate will have at least some exposure to California public charter schools, experience practicing law in complex operational and regulatory matters, and some experience in government litigation and administrative proceedings. The ideal candidate will also have some exposure to the California transparency laws governing public agencies and use of public funds, including Ralph M. Brown Act, Political Reform Act, Public Records Act, and TK-12 school funding.
Responsibilities of this role will include counseling schools and other clients on a wide array of day-to-day legal issues, including researching, drafting contracts, policies, and other operational documents, and assisting clients in navigating sensitive disputes. Litigation responsibilities may include writs of mandate, special education due process cases and other matters before the Office of Administrative Hearings, and other administrative appeals. Most importantly, candidates should be comfortable balancing a diverse practice, working on multiple client matters, and should enjoy tackling novel legal issues requiring sound judgment and thoughtful analysis.
This position requires California Bar admission and excellent academic credentials. Qualified candidates must possess exceptional writing, analytical, research, and communication skills, along with the ability to manage competing priorities in a collaborative, fast-paced, modern law firm environment. We work as a team. We are seeking a self-motivated attorney who is intellectually curious, eager to learn, and motivated by serving mission-driven clients. Typical salary range is from $165,000 to $235,000 depending on experience. In addition, this role is eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, bringing the possible total compensation range to approximately $215,000-$335,000 annually. The Labor and Employment Team at Procopio is looking for a Mid or Senior Level Associate with litigation experience to join their highly successful team in our San Diego, Del Mar Heights, or Orange County office.
